I did an experiment on quilled 3-D cake.

But closer look and you'll notice the surface of my tight coils is not smooth and even (as shown below). It could be done more neatly. I should have used just paper instead of light weight cardstock (because I like the surface pattern of the card). I'll give it another try sometime again to improve on.

ReplyDeletebeautiful cake! I love the textured look of the cardstock for the cake frosting! To get a more even top it sometimes works to press a flat surface onto the top of the tight coil and press it around a bit.
