I bought a manual paper shredder recently. It makes my life easier as I don't have to cut the standard 3mm strips by hand now (thanks to the tips by some local quillers on their blogs). Yay!
My mini manual paper shredder
Paper strips produced using the mini paper shredder
I spent a whole night arranging those strips with the help from my husband.
Notice that the edge of the paper strips is not as smooth as those quilling strips that we buy. But it gives a unique pattern. Anyhow, I guess I still need to buy quilling strips in future because there's only a limited variety of papers to choose from at the local stores that I always visit.

ReplyDeletenice one..
where u get it..?
I got it from a local stationery shop.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea. I too read about this somewhere but the paper shredders available in India cut the paper to such tiny shreds that we cant quill with them.
ReplyDeleteanother idea is to paint the paper and then cut- you will get unusual and lovely shades including gradated and tinted strips
Happy crafting

paint the paper? that's a useful tip! thanks.
ReplyDeletehye..where can i get that paper shredder..tq
ReplyDeleteClk Kema: I got it from a local stationary shop here in Kuching. I'm not sure where you can get it in West Malaysia. Try some stationary shop or art store. Or you can get a paper trimmer from stationary shop. Paper trimmer produces clean cut edge, not feathery like paper shreddar.

ReplyDeletehi, Hanis, sorry I don't sell paper shredder. The one I bought is from a local stationary shop.
ReplyDeleteIt is very convenient to have your own paper shredder, especially for those who enjoy arts and crafts. I’d love to have my own mini manual paper shredder too! I’ll be going downtown to see if any of the local stores have one. With this, I can finally dispose of my confidential papers, mostly from my journal! Good riddance!
